What we use

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. We use as few as the site can function with.

Strictly necessary: security, load balancing, and remembering choices such as your language. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site.

Attribution: if you arrive from a search result, an email or an advertisement, we record which source brought you so we can understand what works. This is stored on our own domain and is not sold or shared with data brokers.

Analytics: aggregate measurement of which pages are read and how people move through the site. We use privacy-preserving analytics that do not build a cross-site profile of you.

What we do not do

We do not run third-party advertising pixels on pages where a health condition could be inferred from the page you are on.

This is deliberate. Regulators have taken action against health companies whose advertising trackers transmitted condition-specific browsing to advertising platforms. Keeping those tags off clinical pages avoids that entirely.

Retention

Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Attribution and preference cookies persist for up to 12 months. Analytics data is retained in aggregate.

Your controls

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, and most let you refuse third-party cookies specifically. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will break parts of the site.

Most browsers also send a Global Privacy Control signal if you enable it. We treat that signal as a valid opt-out of sale or sharing where the applicable state law provides for it.
